Take me out to the ball game

For those of you who are new to the blog, my boyfriend is a minor league baseball player. You can read about it here or here. Mainly, that means that I get to go months without seeing him, spend late nights waiting up just to say hi on the phone before he has to get on the bus, and praying that he stays healthy and strong enough to last through their terribly long season…just to name a few. BUT, this season David was placed on a team in North Carolina! Since I live in Virginia, that means I will get to see him a lot more. AMEN.

David’s parents, brother, and I made the trip down to the ballpark for opening weekend. It was one of the best weekends I have had in a while (not that I have had bad weekends, this one was just REALLY fun). It was a new start to a new season and I can’t wait to see what God has in store for us this year.

*Warning! I just had my wisdom teeth out so I have chubby cheeks in most of these pictures.

David’s brother and me in in the stands! Trying to figure out what to wear to a baseball game is harder than it seems. Rule #1-don’t wear his gear or he’ll get fined in Kangaroo Court (basically where the players fine each other $$ when they do something stupid, embarrassing, etc. Maybe I’ll post on that later- it’s quite entertaining). Rule #2- Don’t dress up too much where it looks like you are trying to hard. Rule #3- Still dress up some-what because you have to make your man proud so he can show you off to his teammates and they can later argue about who has the hotter girlfriend in the locker room. See? It’s like rocket science.

David peeking his little head out of the dugout in between innings.

After the game he was signing autographs for little kids (tried to get a picture because it was so dang cute, but couldn’t pull my camera out fast enough. Gah! Next time.

Warming up before the game.

We helped David move in to his new apartment. 5 guys living in a 2 bed room apartment. Sounds cramped (and it is…), but it’s pretty typical to find this in minor league baseball. Low rent and they rarely spend time there because they are on the road so much, so it is what it is.

Fail.

It was so hard saying bye to him because I know that it will be a month or two until I see him again. But this season will be different than last. I'm going to keep my head up, take what I can get, and enjoy every minute of the time God allows us to spend together.

You guys are so cute. That's so wonderful that you'll get to see him more. I can't imagine how hard that must be! I'd love to read a post on "Kangaroo Court"... that's hilarious!

I had a friend who dated someone in the minor leagues and I never heard of the Kangaroo Court. I can totally see that happening, though!

Glad you are closer to him for this season!

That's so awesome that he's a minor league player!
I'm a huge baseball fan (it's the only sport I follow!) haha :)

You're strong for being able to go months at a time without seeing him! When Adam goes on tour with his band I freak out! lol.

Love your game outfit AND I have to say that I love David's brothers hat...go Rays!

Happy Monday, girl!

you guys are so cute! (and you look great for just having your wisdom teeth pulled) When my husband and I were dating, for three of the years we lived in different states. it was definitely hard but I think that he forced us to work harder on our relationship and then enjoy it way more once we lived near each other!

Okay...maybe I should've read your "About Me" section before commenting. I'm in the DC area now as well after finishing up at GMU and now teaching!
